Château de Malle, 50 hectares, is a property of one piece with vines and forest.
It is located on three villages (Preignac, Fargues and Toulenne), and is situated on two prestigious AOC : Sauternes and Graves.
Sauternes :
The vineyards are situated in the communes of Preignac and of Fargues. Only 28 hectares of the vineyard area of Château de Malle are dedicated to the making of Sauternes. The vines are planted on the undulating slopes of a plateau of medium altitude on gravelly clay soil on a siliceous sub-soil. The vines (Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle) have an average age of between 30 and 40 years and are planted at a density of 6,600 vines per hectare.
Graves Red :
Amongst the 25 hectares of appellation Graves which makes up the vineyards of Chateau de Malle, a large part is consecrated to making Red Graves.
The vineyard is situated in the commune of Toulenne and covers 20 hectares. The soil consists of pebbly gravel and sand, typical of the region. The grape varieties are planted in a balanced way and thus are comprised of 50 % Merlot and 50 % Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of the vines is around 25 years and the density of plantation is about 6,600 vines per hectare.
Graves White :
The M. de Malle is a dry White Graves wine originating in the Graves appellation vineyards of Château de Malle. It is meticulously vinified according to time tested tradition combining the most modern technology and the utmost patience and devotion. This fine wine is in fact a rarity as its production never exceeds 12,000 bottles per year.
The vineyard is planted with the Sauvignon grape (75%), which provides the fruit, the aroma and freshness to the wine, whilst the other grape variety, the Semillon (25%), imparts roundness and finesse to this fine wine. The vines are approximately 15 years old and the density of plantation is 6,600 vines per hectare.
