Château de Malle is a classified historic monument and is an exquisite residence surrounded by magnificent Italian style gardens.
Built at the beginning of the 17th Century by Jacques de Malle, President of the Parliament of Bordeaux, the Château has remained in the same family without ever changing hands.
In 1855, the Château is elected as a Grand Cru Classé de Sauternes : Henri de Lur-Saluces, Senator of the Gironde, was running the estate at thta time. Some years later, his daughter will marry Paul de Bournazel, the father of the famous « Cavalier Rouge », and great grand-father of the actual winemakers.
In the ‘50s, Pierre de Lur-Saluces –single and without children, gave the domain to his nephew Pierre de Bournazel, who renovated the domain and became, as time went by, a major figure in the viticultural world of Bordeaux.. His wife, the Comtesse de Bournazel, took over the château when Pierre de Bournazel died and is still in the business together with his three sons.
